Obituary of Dana Scott

Dana Lee Scott, 63, died on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion to the late Earl Richard and Mary Jane (Gamble) Scott.

Dana was a 1972 Marion High School graduate and attended Indiana University. He worked as a nurse at Wesleyan Healthcare Center and previously at Carey Services. Known for his big personality and his ability to make others laugh, Dana loved life and he, too, loved to laugh.

His daughters were the lights of his life. Known to his teammates as “Orca”, Dana loved to play softball. He and his daughters shared a common love for the game, and he had the opportunity to coach them when they played. Dana was actively involved in playing a variety of sports, and he also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his daughters, Molly E. Scott, Marion, and Kelsay (Kyle) Bisdorf, Indianapolis; brothers, Dale (Kim) Scott, Marion, and Richard “Dick” (Nora) Scott, Marion; three granddogs, Noodle, Winston, and Oscar; ex-wife, Susan Scott, Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

Dana was also preceded in death by his brother, Jay Scott; daughter, Megan Scott; and nephew, Jared Scott.

Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. Services to celebrate Dana’s life will begin at 7 p.m. with Chaplain Don Miller officiating.
